Build something you are proud of
Momentum and patience are a powerful combination.
I am a builder. I build automations. Dustin, my mentor, used to say: build something that you are proud of. That is amazing advice. I try to follow it for every project I undertake.
To do this, it is very important that I write down my reasons for doing any project before I start.

“I am willing to take as much time as needed between projects to find my next thing. But I always want it to be a project that, if successful, will make the rest of my career look like a footnote.”
— Sam Altman
Taking time to pick the right project before locking in is necessary for building something I am proud of. This approach makes the workplace an opportunity to do impactful work.
I can’t be fully logical when deciding my next project. Logic has its limits. But I want to be passionate about the next project I pick. I would rather live my life with passion than with logic—and there is no logic to this statement either.
Momentum and patience together form the key to success.
When you write down your reasons for picking the project, next comes the test of patience. Patience helps you do the average thing when everyone around you is losing their mind.
